This is an amateur film produced by Stephen Gray of the Sunderland Air Show taking place at Sunderland Airport, formerly RAF Usworth, in 1981.
The film opens on a World War Two fighter aircraft performing an aerobatic display over Sunderland Airport. A man walks through the crowds carrying a number of balloons. A second aircraft performs acrobatics leaving a trail of smoke. On the ground a crowd walk past a large four engine cargo aircraft parked on the runway. In the air a modern fighter jet flies past at speed performing aerial stunts followed by views of a parachutist coming into land nearby. Three more parachutists come in for a synchronised land, the second person on top of the first, and the third on top of the second. A fourth parachutist follows on landing safely.
A twin-boomed aircraft, possibly a de Havilland Vampire, flies overhead followed by a second single-boomed aircraft. They fly past in formation, the Vampire flies as if being chased. A biplane follows next performing aerial stunts in the sky, smoke trailing from its rear.
A man stands beside either a Hurricane or Spitfire aircraft parked on the runway, Views follow showing it in flight. A number of modern military jet aircraft including a Harrier Jump Jet fly over the crowds. A Vulcan bomber passes overhead followed by a Lockheed C-130 Hercules cargo plane taxiing onto the runway and taking off.
At a showground a flare is lit and in the sky a parachute display team leave a trail of smoke following behind them as they descend. The film ends with them all landing safely.
