The group travel from London to Dover by Pullman train before taking a ferry to Calais and train onto Paris. An amateur film produced by Norman Stansfield-Goodwin of a visit to Paris by a group of delegates from British Frigidaire in the spring of 1951. The group travel from London to Dover by Pullman train before taking a ferry to Calais and train onto Paris. Title: The Story of the Journey
A woman stands outside ‘The Mayfair’ hotel in London speaking with the Concierge on duty, they both smile at the camera.
At Victoria Station, the words about the entrance reads ‘Direct Routes to Paris and all Parts of the Continent via Dover Calais’. Several men stand beside the SR Merchant Navy Class 35027 Port Line steam locomotive. Passengers make their way along the platform to their carriage, some stand chatting before boarding.

A sign hanging over the railway platform for ‘Dunkerque Ferry’ changes to passengers on the deck of a ship standing around chatting together as they cross the British Channel. A woman dances. In the distance, the French coastline changes to the ship docking along a quayside.

Members of the group climb onboard a train waiting for them next to the quayside, onboard passengers sit at tables and give food and drinks order to a waiter walking past.
A street sign on a wall for Avenue Bertie Albrecht and members of the party going into ‘Le Reynolds’ hotel.

A large sign atop a building for ‘General Motors France’ is followed by a group of well-dressed men and women stand around chatting outside said building. Inside waiters stand behind a table laid out with food and drink.

Beside a Union Jack and a Tricolour, a man makes a speech to a seated audience. He shakes hands with another man before taking a glass of champagne from a waiter standing behind the table seen previously. A bus pulls away, onboard members of the group.

A phantom bus ride passing a large building with writing across the wall that is partly readable; ‘Entrepots Frigorifique de…’. A dog gets up and walks towards the door of a shop, the entrance painted red.

From a moving vehicle, two men are seen walk into a bar.

Phantom bus ride through the streets of Paris passing a Frigidaire showroom as well as other electrical outlets in the city.
Title: Arc de Triomphe
The bus travels along a boulevard approaching the Arc de Triomphe. The Frigidaire showroom again, a ‘Prunier’ boutique and a crowd standing outside a restaurant with awning.
Back on board the bus they travel to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier beneath the Arc de Triomphe where displays of flowers are laid out beside a candle. The group is given a guided tour of a number of Paris sites include the Eiffel Tower.

A brief phantom bus ride followed by a guide speaking with the group as they walk around the palace. Another brief bus ride and the group arrives at a hotel with an outdoor swimming pool where they enjoy drinks and food sitting in a large garden area sitting at tables with awnings.

At Longchamps Racecourse three men on horseback, possibly Cuirassier’s as they wear Dragoon helmets. Horses and jockeys race past around the track.

A game of polo taking place on a large field changes to a windmill. A number of open-top sports cars drive past along a busy road. A group of women stands under a glass awning beside a building, possibly a restaurant as tables are set up nearby.

Various neon signs advertise Parisian bars, restaurants, and night-time venues including ‘Alaska Glacier’.
Two men stand beside lettering on a wall that reads ‘Foire de Paris 1951’. A number of large cranes dominate the skyline as well as other industrial equipment. A group of men sit outside a café, a man walks past selling newspapers.

A group stands outside the ‘Restaurant a la Mere Catherine’ on place du Tertre. People and traffic move along a busy road, on the other side tables set up with awnings. An artist paints with oils. A man gives hand gestures helping a driver of a lorry travel along a narrow road.

Railway porters carry cases and luggage along a platform changes to a ship leaving port. Three women sit on deckchairs chatting and the English coastline.
