A home movie which features both the Forth Road Bridge in Scotland, Blackpool Tower as well as Marden Rock near South Shields and a visit to the city of Durham. The final part of the film is of a trip to London to take part in the 1951 Festival of Britain along the Southbank.
The film begins with views of the Firth of Forth and Forth Rail Bridge crossing the estuary changing to cliffs or mountains beside the sea or large Scottish loch.

In a garden a family gathering, a couple walk past smiling arm-in-arm. A woman holding a baby walks towards camera. Various people pose with the baby.
On a beach a small child plays with a dog in the surf. An older man carries the child on his back along the busy beach. An older woman sits in a deckchair. In the distance a pier as two women walk towards camera along a crowded beach. A boy and girl play with a ball in the sand, the older man comes over and joins them.
Durham Cathedral and the River Wear from Prebends Bridge changes to Palace Green and views of Durham Castle as well as the cathedral. Two older couples walk along a wooded path is followed by another view of the cathedral and castle battlements from across the Wear.

From the Southbank in London Elizabeth Tower and the Houses of Parliament in the distance. On the Thames motorboat rides past watched by a crowd standing along the Embankment.
Crowds walk around the site of the Festival of Britain past fountains, the Southbank Centre and The Skylon Tower.
Outside Buckingham Palace members of the Queens Guard marching band parade around the gates of the palace and around the Victoria Memorial. A large crowd rush towards the gates of the palace and the film ends on more of the marching band performing as part of a parade.
