Filmed from a light aircraft over Teesdale views of the rural landscape around the river Tees showing farm land, large estates and houses as well as towns such as Barnard Castle and the Bowes Museum. The plane flies over Egglestone Abbey as well as High Force waterfall heading towards Cow Green Reservoir. This is followed by views of Raby Castle near Staindrop. The reel ends back on the ground and three men looking over a map, presumably of what has been flown over.
The film begins with views of the landscape with the river Tees flowing through it, with country roads crossing it at various points.
The river becomes wider as it meanders downstream towards the mouth. The film looks down on grand houses as well more modest buildings as it follows the route of the river.
A view over the pilot’s shoulder shows the view he sees through the windscreen. The plane then flies over farmland showing a view of a large house with what appear to be static caravans in a nearby field.
More views of the river are followed by a view of a grand mansion which is Rokeby Hall in Rokeby park near Barnard Castle.
There follow extensive views of Barnard Castle showing the riverside mills and barracks and also the castle. A view of Barnard Castle school is next showing the large school building and extensive playing fields.
The plane passes over the French styled Bowes Museum followed by more general views of Barnard Castle and the area around Bowes Museum.
The plane passes over the ruins of Egglestone Abbey which is next to the river not far from Barnard Castle. The view cuts to another large house with distinctive hexagonal or pentagonal window bays.
The film then shows area of moorland and farmland and what appears to be a water treatment works
A view of another village is followed by more general views over farmland, picking up the course of the river again.
The film then shows the controls of the aeroplane in the cockpit, and a view of the meandering river below from the left-hand side of the plane. It continues further north possibly flying over Mickleton and Middleton in Teesdale
After more general views of the landscape, the plane flies over the well-known attraction on the river which is the waterfall at High Force. Then the plane flies over open moorland and in the distance emerges a view of the expanse of water at Cow Green reservoir.
The film then goes on to show overhead views of medieval Raby Castle near Staindrop; the plane circulates over the castle.
The film shows the plane on the ground, with three men standing next to it looking at a map. The film ends as one of the men runs his finger across the map while the others look on. In the background another plane has printed on the side, Northern Parachute Centre.
