Amateur record of RGS schoolboys visit to Cambridge with staff and family where they take part in many activities: punting on River Cam; swimming practice in outside and indoor pools; cricket matches, one possibly at Bishops Stortford as there's a group portrait in front of a sign on station(?); tennis; team rowing practice; water polo; older boys punting on river; group portrait of RGS staff and family(?). The opening of this film shows a boy paddling a canoe along a river. As he pulls into the river bank another boy swims across to meet him. The following view shows several canoeists on the water. The film moves on to a view of a large, whitewashed building with boys looking out from ground floor and upper floor windows. Next views from a boat on the river Cam in Cambridge. A woman steers the punt using a setting pole or quant. More views follow from a boat or punt showing immaculately kept bank sides and some Cambridge University buildings. More on-river views show oncoming bridges. A change of location follows with diving swimmers at an outdoor pool. The film cuts to an indoor pool as a young student dives in watched by schoolmates. A group of students stand next to railway station sign or possibly a sign for the cricket ground where they have come to play. The film goes on to show two young batsmen leave a clubhouse and walk towards the wicket, a brief view follows of a woman walking towards the camera, then back to the cricket match as it gets underway. A group of students gather on a field with a member of the teaching staff (?) and pose for the camera. The film cuts back to the diving at the indoor pool followed by a swimming race. A change of sport and location where school members play tennis, including a doubles match. The film cuts to a group of boys in school uniform gathering in the doorway of the white building seen earlier. An older man in a trilby hat joins them. One of the boys tests the tautness of tennis racquet strings by hitting it with the edge of another racquet. Next is a view of a competitive rowing boat, this may be the Cambridge boat race team in training. The film moves on to a large table set outside where boys from the school sit. The film then cuts back to swimming races and diving in an outside pool. There follows more film of diving and swimming races followed by a game of water polo. Next a phantom passenger view from a car travelling down a street presumably in Cambridge. This is followed by a view of a cricket club clubhouse with a flag flying on a pole nearby [quite dark]. Next a student punts along the river while his companion snoozes in the seat below where he stands. Another punt passes by, followed by a canoe paddled by two boys. Next a group from the school gathers on the riverbank, several boys paddle canoes along the river battling with each other. Canoes are capsized and the combatants are plunged into the river. A view follows showing canoes and punts heading towards the camera. A group from the school gather round a large table set outside. They sit on deck chairs while a woman at the head of the table serves tea. A group of teaching staff from the Royal Grammar School (?) sit on garden steps and pose for the camera. The film cuts to an outdoor pool and a swimming race, followed by a diving competition. Another swimming contest shows the participants going back and forth across the width of the pool in a relay race. The film ends with a cricket team walking on to the field of play followed by the match.
