An amateur film showing a group of well-dressed men standing outside Peacock Hall, part of the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, chatting and smoking cigarettes with other men. Three of the men are also filmed playing a game of golf at a local course. The men featured are believed to be members of the hospitals Board of Govenors.
The film opens on man standing in the entrance way of Peacock Hall, part of the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. He walks towards the camera removing a pair of gloves. He speaks with the person behind the camera.
A second man steps out of a car flicking a cigarette onto the ground. Again, he stands and speaks with the cameraperson.
A third older gentleman comes over from Peacock Hall and takes off his bowler hat. Again, he speaks with the person behind the camera.
A fourth man comes over from Peacock Hall and gets into a car followed by a fifth man standing next to the car. In the background a woman sits on the window ledge inside Peacock Hall.
A seventh man stands speaking with the person behind the camera followed by another man speaking with the cameraperson and smoking a cigarette.
On a piece of grass just outside the hospital entrance a man with a golf club putts a golf ball. Beside the statue of Queen Victoria three men stand chatting over cigarettes, one man wears a white laboratory coat.
Beside some bushes two older men stand chatting and smoking cigarettes followed by a younger man standing beside the bushes chatting with the cameraperson. He tosses his bowler hat to the ground.
Another man walks away from the entrance of Peacock Hall towards a parked car nearby posing and speaking with the person behind the camera.
Beside a club house on a golf course, possibly the Parklands Golf Course, a man tee’s off. On the green he and two other men putt the ball watched by their caddies. In the background a racetrack fence can be seen, possibly part of Newcastle Racecourse.
Back at the Royal Victoria Infirmary two older men stand beside a large bush chatting over cigarettes. Two men, one wearing a white laboratory coat come over. The film ends with one of the two men lighting a cigarette.
