After being jilted by her fiancée , the young woman looks to move on and start a new chapter. She meets a woman with whom she becomes romantically involved. As their relationship develops, the young woman discovers her lover has been hiding letters from her former fiancée who wishes to reconcile. At the end of a fancy-dress party, the two women have a jealous quarrel which ultimately leads to a violent conclusion.
