A field with telegraph pole changes to the original Tarset Tyne Bridge near Bellingham crossing the River North Tyne. A construction site is set up next to the bridge and, filmed over a number of months, a replacement bridge is built. A large crane helps to install concrete supports for the new roadway.
A narrow country road from a number of locations along it, the filmmakers white Austin Maxi parked nearby. A wider asphalt road passing through a rural location with vehicles travelling along it on occasion. A main road with lines down the middle passes a number of houses. A lorry turns out of junction passing more buildings.
Off the main road a hydraulic excavators filling dump trucks with earth. At another part of the road other pieces of equipment including a smooth wheeled compactor work to build the new road. The film ends on a dump truck unloads its content onto the new road surface.
