A family on the beach with a small boy making sandcastles, a second boy looks down on him from the dunes. The boys sit together making more sandcastles watched by two women. An older boy comes over to assist.

A family on the beach with a small boy making sandcastles, a second boy looks down on him from the dunes. The boys sit together making more sandcastles watched by two women. An older boy comes over to assist.
Beside a stream the two young boys put a toy boat in the water watch it as it travels with the current, they are watched by a young girl. The boat moves across a sea pool as the girl joins the two boys to play.
The family stand with others along the banks of a river, on the water an inflatable rowing boat. Two boys sit at the rear and are rowed across the river by a man in shirt and tie. The boys use their arms to paddle from the boat.
One of the boys sniffs a large red flower in a garden. Other colourful flowers and plants grow there. The girl now smells the flower looking down into the petals.
An older boy sits on a horse and is led past other children standing beside him. He climbs of and a young boy is lifted on. Three children on horseback are led along a woodland trail, two women sit nearby watching.
On a beach trick photography is uses to show four children, two boys and two girls, appearing together as if by magic. Filmed at high-speed the youngest boy builds a sandcastle. Back at normal speed the younger girl joins him and builds her own sandcastle. A second young boy joins the first in digging a hole in the sand using their arms.
Sitting on grass beside a number of parked cars the family has a picnic, the younger girls eats a packet of crisps. The older girl distracts her and steals one of her crisps.

Beside lake Windermere the family have another picnic. The two younger boys walk along the waters edge, a fishing rod is set up near the picnic spot. In bathing costumes, the children splash around in the water. They go swimming in deeper water.
Beside a café in town the older boy stands with one of the younger boys who is holding a fishing net. Visitors look over souvenirs and postcards for sale at a kiosk while large crowds walk along a path beside the lake. A number of lake cruise ships are moored along a jetty. The children look over a railing, the boy with the net swiping down on the water below.
The passenger cruise vessel MV Teal comes along a jetty and those onboard begins to disembark. Now on board the busy ship crossing the lake the family watching the birds and other boats passing by.
A woman sits under a parasol reading and drinking a mug of tea while nearby the children play with their nets in a shallow steam. They walk along a path and beside a stone bridge remove their shoes and socks and go paddling in a rocky river. The film ends back overlooking Windermere and the older girl posing beside a tree.
