Description
An amateur film produced by Doug Collender of a holiday to the Mediterranean island of Malta. Filmed over three reels it shows visits to a number of well-known location including the nearby island of Gozo and Popeye Village the filming location of the Robert Altman movie. Many of these locations are visited by either bus or coach and the film records a number of these journeys.

A woman in a red jacket walks across a rocky shoreline change to view outside and in of The Church of Saint John the Baptist, also known as the Rotunda of Xewkija, on the island of Gozo, Malta.
Traffic moves along a number of busy boulevards including a number green and white buses. Cars are parked along a number of narrow streets changes to waves crashing beside a rocky shoreline, a man rests against a railing looking out to sea. A woman stands on a promontory looking out to sea as waves continue to crash against the shoreline below.
A man takes the hand of a young woman and kisses it a number of times. She looks intently before waving her finger in disapproval.
Crowds walk along a road passing a number of shops selling textiles. Cars drive around a town square or are parked nearby. A road leads down to a harbour area, market stalls are set up in another town square near to a church. Local people look over the stalls selling shoes and textiles. Two young women look at a stall selling makeup, people stand around chatting.
A number of green and white buses are parked near to a fountain at a terminus. Along a quayside a passenger ferry is docked. The ship pulls away from the quay, the door at the rear of the boat still closing. Passengers on deck look out along the coastline as the ferry travels past.
Tourists walk around the set of the 1980 musical production ‘Popeye’ in Anchor Bay known as Popeye Village. Wooden cut-outs of various Popeye characters stand beside a number of buildings. A sign points towards ‘Popeye – Film Set’.
Once again, a man walks over a kisses the hand of a young woman, the sequence is repeated a number of times.
From a widow a busy road with two tall buildings on the horizon, from another at the back of the location rubbish in a back-alley.
A phantom coast ride into the countryside, the driver speaks with a man in a village. Another visit to Popeye Village showing a number of building or sets.
The second reel begins with a group onboard a tourist boat travelling along the coastline. The group walk around a large water-filled crater and what appears to be a disused shipyard or military base. Members of the group look over the wrecks of a wooden and metal ship.
Back at the terminal near a fountain buses are still parked there, many have numbers indicating routes on the inside windows. Buses come and go from the depot.
From atop a hill a tour group looks out on the view in front of them, a guide provides a description of what they are seeing. The group wonder through a town of sandy-coloured buildings.
Onboard a boat some of the group take photographs of the surrounding landscape. At the village of Kalkara remains of a model of the Titanic used during the production of the film ‘Raise the Titanic’ sits in a large water tank. People stand beside the model having their photographs taken. Nearby a model of a dolphin or whale.
Back at the bus terminal passengers get on and off their buses, back on board another tour boat the group look out on passing towns and coastal scenes. The cargo ship ‘Popi’ is docked along a quayside, a Pilot boat speeds past.
The group take another bus ride and join other passengers getting aboard a passenger’s ferry. At a historic location, a guide speaks to the group as they wonder around the site. Visitors climb off another bus and stand around the guide who speaks to them from a promontory looking out on a village and sea below.
The third reel starts with a phantom bus ride travelling at speed along narrow streets. On board passengers look out on the windows. The film ends on board a tourist boat where a number of men records the journey with video cameras.
