A home movie produced by Doug and Marjorie Collender featuring their daughter Mandy from new-born to a two-year-old. The film shows the child interacting not only with her parents, but other family and friends as well as the families German Shepherd. The film opens on a montage of images relating to the birth of their daughter Mandy. These include images of flowers, greeting cards and gifts laid out for the camera as well as a small trophy with the inscription ‘World Greatest Dad’. Marjorie bathes her baby daughter in a bath set up on a table. Now dressed the child rests in her mother’s arms. The child is held up beside a Christmas tree, she is asleep. A number of child-friendly decorations adorn the tree. Laying on the floor the baby is cleaned. Now a few months old Mandy sits on the floor beside the family German Shepherd dog. Marjorie offers her daughter a plum which she takes and begins to eat, she eats one as well offering bits to the dog. Doug plays with the dog on the floor while Marjorie wipes plum juice from her daughter’s face. They play together along with the dog. A brief shot of Mandy travelling in a car changes to her as a toddler walking in the garden of the Ponteland family home with the help of her parents. Doug swingers her in his arms watched by the family German Shepherd. Inside Mandy picks her nose as she comes down the stairs watched by Marjorie. They both go outside and play in the sunny garden. At a caravan site Mandy sits in a swing and Doug and another small girl push her. On a beach they Collender’s are with another family, they watch as Marjorie builds a sandcastle. Back at home Doug pushes Mandy on her own swing. She sees the carry case for Doug’s camera and tries to open it. From the roof of the terminal building at Newcastle Airport Mandy and another toddler run around happily as their parent watch and aircraft comes into land. Marjorie chases after her daughter. The film ends with Doug drives a car along a country road, Mandy sits in the back playing with a doll. They arrive at Gretna Green Blacksmith Shop.
