A home movie produced by Doug Collender of a family holiday to the city of Salamanca in north-western Spain. As well as material showing the family and other guests relaxing around The Hotel Lago Montse pool, the film also includes a number of excursions around the town that takes in some of the local culture. Doug's daughter Mandy admires a donkey that stands beside a palm tree. Marjorie Collender standing beside her daughter’s pushchair, look over at the camera and sticks her tongue out. Mother and daughter walk past a number of decorated horse and carriages parked up beside a wall, one of the horses eats from a bag placed around its mouth. General views of various styles of Spanish buildings and churches intercut with Marjorie buying ice creams from a street vendor. The family walk along a number of narrow alleyways speaking with some of the local shopkeepers. Mandy wears a Sombrero followed by a narrow street and a number of stone carved street names. A kitten walks in the street. A girl swims in the pool at The Hotel Lago Montse, Marjorie sits in a deckchair her daughter sitting beside her. More children swim and play in the pool and a man speaks with his daughter. Around the pool a number of women in bathing costumes sunbathe on recliners as the children continue to play in the pool. The poolside is crowded with holidaymakers, some relaxing in deckchairs others playing games with their children. A number of decorative horse-drawn carriages drive past a decorative church. A number of street signs advertise film processing. A man with a cigarette hanging from his mouth walks through a street market, other signs advertise ‘Berlin Perfumeria’ and ‘Optica Lumiere’. Crowds make their way along narrow streets passing a ‘Biodramina’ of an elephant bobbing his head. The family sit around an outdoor table at a café as a waiters comes over to serve drinks. A woman looks at a rack of postcode as traffic moves along a busy road. Marjorie and her daughter walk past a telephone kiosk, magazines for sale from a nearby stall. In a small, covered area what looks like an old fashioned film projector or camera. Crowds walk along busy streets past a Woolworth’s department store. Back at the hotel Doug, wearing a pair of swimming trunks, bounces a ball playing with his daughter. Other guests sit around in loungers or swim in the pool. A family with two small children come out to the poolside. A waiter comes over with a tray of drinks and places them on a table beside Marjorie. Various types of red and white grape grown in vines returning to the hotel where adults and children continue to relax beside the pool or swim and play in the pool. Doug sits on deckchair with Mandy on his knees Doug’s daughter sits on his knee while an older girl sitting next to them, next to them an older girl blows up an inflatable beach ball. Light comes through a large circular stained window inside a church. Outside views of the exterior of the buildings as people walk past a number of small shops along a boulevard. Various general views of the local architecture and people walk up and down various narrow streets. A woman buys apple from an outdoor market stall, nearby another stall sell various cheeses with two women trying samples. Another stall sells peppers a number of which are selected by two women who place them in plastic bowls. A crowd stands outside a kiosk drinking and chatting followed by a fountain in a town square surrounded by office buildings. Traffic moves along the road as two policemen walk along the road. Another fountain forms part of a garden of a large house. Marjorie and her daughter walk past colourful flowerbeds beside the fountain. The girl points and smiles at Mute swans swimming on a nearby pond. A firework display taking place at the hotel at night and the film ends on a woman in a bikini asleep on a recliner beside the hotel pool. Another woman sunbathes nearby white children play in the pool.
