Home movie filmed by Doug and Marjorie Collender of a family caravanning holiday to Scotland in around 1974. The film features a visit to the Gretna Green and their children playing on beach with Doug relaxing by their caravan. The final part of the film features a visit to a zoo.
At the Gretna Green blacksmith shop Doug carries his daughter through a barrier into the venue. Inside visitors look around a number of exhibitions. Outside a man in a tartan hat stands beside a Marjorie and their young son.
Their car pulling a caravan pulls away, Doug at the wheel. On a beach a small girl fills her bucket with sand. Her brother joins her while nearby Doug plays with a dog on the sand. The two children make a sandcastle, Marjorie helping. More castles are made to make a fort around which Marjorie digs a moat.
The Doug and his daughter play together in the surf, out on the water a small yacht with red sails. In a bikini Marjorie now plays with her daughter splashing around in the surf. Nearby other children play around in the water. Marjorie chases the child back up the beach where a number of caravans are parked along the bank.
Beside their caravan Doug relaxes on a recliner putting on a pair of sun-glasses and listening to a radio as he children play nearby. They both come over and the daughter hands him a doll. He gives her a kiss.
Doug and his daughter walk past a sign that reads ‘Logan Fish Pool’. They walk along the Stranraer coastline passing a number of cows towards a village. Doug filmed someone’s trying to catch a fish with their hand.
At a zoo the girl and her mother looks in on an enclosure of penguins followed by one containing polar bears. Inside the penguin enclosure a keep feeds them. In another paddock and elephant and the girl goes wondering around the zoo passing a Highland cow and an enclosure where a female lion is grooming herself.
Back at the campsite the boy comes out of their caravan carrying a bucket and chases a crow across the field. Inside the caravan someone holds up a teddy-bear to the window, he turns and sees the teddy and waves back where the film ends.
