Home movie filmed by Doug and Marjorie Collender of a trip to the Farne Islands off the Northumberland coast with their young daughter.
From a boat heading out of Seahouses harbor a small crowd stand on the quayside above, a small girl waves back at them. An older couple stands at the controls of the boat as it crosses the sea towards the Farne Islands. Marjorie and her daughter look out onto a rocky outcross as the boat passes.
A number of boys look out on Longstone Lighthouse on Longstone Rock in the near distance, Marjorie comforts her daughter. Arriving at Longstone Rock a rope is thrown down to the boat. From the top of the lighthouse, Marjorie and her daughter look out at the surrounding landscape, behind them the lantern continues to turn.
Back on the dockside Marjorie and her daughter climb about the boat identified as ‘Ocean Dawn’ along with the other passengers. The boat departs passing near to Brownstone Island with its cottage and beacon. A seagull rests on the water as other sea birds nest in the rugged cliffs or fly overhead as the boat passes near an island. Other passengers on board including Marjorie and her daughter look out to sea as the boat continues its journey. Doug now holds his daughter as they pass by a number of other islands and rocky cliffs with colonies of sea birds.
As they pass near to Longstone Rock again a second passenger boat makes its way to the island. The film ends with Doug still holding his daughter and looking out to sea.
