Summary An amateur film made by Elizabeth, Lady Knott begins with a Girl Guide presentation taking place on a stage in which a British Army Officer presents certificates to a number of leaders and their girls. This is followed by a visit to Samares Manor by Bernard Law "Monty" Montgomery, 1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein. During his visit he meeting a young Vincent Obbard shaking his hand as well as his parents Commander Edward Obbard and Elizabeth, Lady Knott. The final part of the film is another Girl Guide presentation taking place on the lawns of Samares Manor possibly relating to a visit by the Chief Girl Guide. |

An amateur film made by Elizabeth, Lady Knott begins with a Girl Guide presentation taking place on a stage in which a British Army Officer presents certificates to a number of leaders and their girls. [B&W] The film begins on a group of Girl Guides standing to attention on a stage beside their respective flags. Near the front is a small table or box draped in a Union Jack.
Two men in army officer uniforms comes onto the stage along with a woman dressed in a Girl Guide leader’s uniform. One of the men and the woman come to stand beside a microphone and speak to the audience.
The man presents a number of certificates to a series of leaders and Girl Guides shaking their hands in the process. The man and woman stand again beside their microphones speaking or singing into it. Behind them the guides on stage appear to sing along.
Following their banners, the Girl Guides begin to leave the stage. At the rear come a number of women.
Still on the stage are three Guides, the one in the middle standing on a small plinth holding a Girl Guide flag.

[Colour] Bernard Law Montgomery, 1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein in army uniform steps out an open-top staff car outside Samares Manor on Jersey. The film cuts to him shaking hands with a number of well-dressed men standing in a line near to the manor.
Viscount Montgomery comes onto a small platform set up on the lawns of Samares Manor and looks at what appears to be a large jug draped in red, white and blue sashes. He comes to sit beside a number of male and female dignitaries on the stage.
On the lawn in front of the stage a group of young women perform synchronised gymnastics display watched by a crowd as well as Viscount Montgomery and other dignitaries on the stage.
The film cuts to show Viscount Montgomery giving a speech into a microphone. Around him those sitting on the stage watch on intently.
On the lawn Viscount Montgomery is introduced to a number of other men, some of who present him with books on the history of Jersey. Viscount Montgomery makes another speech to a surrounding crowd of men, women and children.

Beside his staff car, a young Vincent Obbard looks up at Viscount Montgomery. He shakes the boy’s hand. The film cuts to show Viscount Montgomery and Edward Obbard walking along the driveway outside Samares Manor and going inside. Elizabeth, Lady Knott follows on behind.
The film cuts to show Viscount Montgomery standing in the back of his open top staff car now wearing a trench coat. He waves and salutes at the crowds as he is driven away.
The film cuts to a lawn near to Samares Manor and a group of Brownies and Girl Guides standing in a square around a small platform. On the stage a woman in a Girl Guide leaders uniform speaks into a microphone. A number of umbrella’s are raised against the rain.
Three Girl Guides march towards the platform and present a flag to a woman. She takes it and immediately returns it. The film ends with the three girls turning and returning to their ranks.
