Title: A Winter's Dale [over shots of snow-covered trees and patterns in water]
Water flows down High Force waterfall.
Close-ups of leaves and foliage, and a view of a river flowing over rocks follow. People walk along the river bank of the Tees.
A close-up follows of insects on a dandelion, other plants shed wisps of cotton wool-like material, red berries and a fly on fruit.
The film cuts to a group of sunlit village buildings in Teesdale, a brooding grey sky in the background. General views follow of field patterns in the valley with isolated stone buildings in the distance. A church bell tolls.
Trees with bare branches are silhouetted against the faint sunlight. Crows squawk in the tree tops. A close-up shows frost along the edge of a leaf, followed by a general view of trees in light mist with frost on twigs, branches, leaves and surviving flowers.
A weak sun is obscured by clouds as snow begins to fall. The landscape is slowly covered in white. Trees collect snow on the windward side of their trunks but the forest floor slowly disappears under a covering of snow. Evergreen tree canopies dip under the weight of snow.
A farmer crosses a snow covered field to attend to a flock of sheep. The surrounding fields and hills are covered in snow and dry stone walls outline field boundaries.
The fast flowing River Tees has broken ice floating on the surface as the water flows rapidly. The final shot reveals the full flow of High Force, swollen with winter meltwater.
