A 30 second television advertisement produced for Vaux Breweries promoting the Lille to the North National Pigeon Race taking place on Saturday July 14th [1962], the prize being a Vaux Gold Tankard.
Title: Vaux Gold Tankard. Pigeon Racing. Lille to the North East
The advertisement begins with a pigeons leg being ringed with a rubber band. The film cuts to Newcastle Airport where a number of large wicker baskets containing racing pigeons are loaded onto a Dan-Air airplane. The name plate for one of the baskets reads ‘Seaton Delaval Station’.
At Lille three men release the pigeons from their baskets into the sky. Back in the region three men stand by a pigeon loft at Skinningrove waiting for their birds to return. The advert ends on the face of one of the men looking up into the sky.
