A home movie produced by William Taylor of Tynemouth that focuses of his daughter Janet from a small baby to her 1st birthday. The film begins with a family Christmas with William and his wife opening presents while Janet sits in a chair nearby. The remainder of the film features both parents playing with their daughter around the family home and garden as well as the mother bathing and feeding the child on a number of occasions. The film also uses some brief stop motion sequences to show...
A home movie produced by William Taylor of Tynemouth that focuses of his daughter Janet from a small baby to her 1st birthday. The film begins with a family Christmas with William and his wife opening presents while Janet sits in a chair nearby. The remainder of the film features both parents playing with their daughter around the family home and garden as well as the mother bathing and feeding the child on a number of occasions. The film also uses some brief stop motion sequences to show babies bottles appearing and disappearing. The film ends with Janet’s first birthday party which features a birthday cake.
The film opens on a decorative Christmas tree in a living room, underneath a number of wrapped presents. Sheet music for ‘Messiah’ rests on a piano nearby.
A man begins to unwrap one of the presents, inside is a typewriter in a case. General views show him opening other presents including books and a striped wash bag.
The film changes to show a woman unwrapping her presents including a furry bonnet which she places around her head. Inside another present is a turkey baster followed by a red scarf. Sitting in a rocker beside the tree is a small baby. The woman places the ribbon from one of the presents around the child’s head. She opens one of the babie's presents. General views of the baby playing in a baby bouncer.
Lying across her knee, the mother uses cotton buds to clean her daughter’s nose. She then oils the child before placing her in a bath. General views of the mother bathing her child.
A desk calendar reads Saturday 10th September followed by a number of christening cards that are placed onto a silver tray followed by a birth certificate.
A pram in a garden cuts to shows four baby bottles appearing one-by-one on the tray seen previously. Inside the pram is a baby. The film changes to show the mother changing the nappy of the screaming child and dressing her in baby clothes. On a sofa the woman feeds the child from a bottle and then places her in the pram to sleep.
In the garden, a washing line full of clean nappies dries in the sun. Nearby the mother looks at her child in a pram. General views show flowers growing in the garden.
Back inside the house more views show the mother bathing her child, drying her in a large towel and putting clothes on. Another view of nappies on the washing line in the garden alongside other items of clothing.
The film cuts to show the woman feeding her child solid food from a spoon. She then places the child across her shoulder to burp her.
The desk calendar reads Sunday 30th October, the film cuts to show a man, her father, holding his child. The baby is filmed in a crib followed by her being held by her mother.
General views show a family gathering that includes an older couple and two children. A number of these visitors hold the baby.
The film cuts to show the child now a little older wearing a dress and sitting on the knee of a woman wearing a red hat. Views of a cake with the name ‘Janet Mary’ written in icing. Two women enjoy a cup of tea while chatting.
The father in an apron vacuums the carpet while the mother, also in an apron, plays with her child in a baby rocker.
The film cuts to show the child lying in a crib wearing a yellow outfit followed by the child sitting on a table. As seen previously, four bottles appear one-by-one on top of a washing machine. A brief view of the child changes to show five cans appearing and then disappearing one-by-one on the washing machine.
The baby sleeps in her crib is followed by her sitting up with a dummy in her mouth. The film cuts to show the child slightly older and wearing blue.
The mother picks up her child and kisses her cheeks. General views follow of her playing with her child including blowing on the child’s stomach causing her to smile and giggle.
A general view of the child in the crib wearing a hat is followed by her bouncing in a baby rocker with a dummy in her mouth and gloves on her hands.
On the floor of a living room the mother watches over her child as she lies and sits up on the carpet. A general view follows of the child in a rocker again.
From a plate the mother feeds her child solid food before giving her a bottle of juice.
In the garden views show the child, now a toddler as she plays in a playpen. She crawls around the lawn and plays with a golf ball. She picks petals off a flower, and puts a second flower in her mouth. The sequence ends on views of yellow flowers in the garden and the child back in the playpen.
