This amateur film by Stephen Gray includes part two of a record of a trip on the Weardale Railway Steam Special from Darlington to Eastgate and Stanhope through the North Pennines on Sunday, 28 March 1993, the start of a campaign to keep the line open with the formation of the Weardale Railway Preservation Society. Footage also includes a record of a NENTA Train Tour: Weardale Valley Ghost.
The film opens with a close-up of the sign for the Stanhope railway station. A crowd has formed at the station near a homemade sign for the 'Weardale Railway Preservation Society' which encourages people to join on the day of the steam special excursion. Steam pours from the K1 engine standing at the station. A sign on the engine reads: 'The Heritage Line Weardale Railway Campaign Special'. The carriages are two tone green livery. Close-up of the wheels.
People are gathered beside the railway tracks to watch the train leave Stanhope station, some with cameras and tripods. Travelling shots from the train moving at a leisurely pace record stone houses in Stanhope, the River Wear, a caravan park (probably between Frosterley and Wolsingham). These are intercut with close-ups of the engine after arrival at a station.

[Note: The next footage flashes between shots]
The next footage records a special 'ghost train' excursion run by the Weardale Valley Railway Preservation Society on 3 April 1993, the train pulled by a 47819 locomotive. A shot of the railway track is followed by a general view of a dilapidated building, possibly at Eastgate or Stanhope Station (?) Spring buds are appearing on a tree. Various shots record old station buildings. The diesel locomotive arrives to pick up passengers. A sign on the engine reads: 'Weardale Valley Ghost: NENTA'.
A group of men photograph the locomotive engine. NENTA officials in orange safety jackets wait on the line.
