A short home movie that concentrates mainly on the County Durham area includes visits to famous landmarks such as Raby Castle and Bowes Museum. The film ends with a royal visit to the region.
The film begins with a solitary tree in a field changing to a view of the imposing structure of Raby Castle in County Durham. General views of the castle follow, then the film cuts to a view of the Cromwell Restaurant in Barnard Castle [now known as Blagraves House Restaurant] the oldest house in Barnard Castle. Small statues adorn the wall above the windows, a long view of the building follows. Exterior views of the Bowes Museum follow.
The film cuts to a parade at a cenotaph, possibly Gateshead, as men in uniform wait for the Queen to pass through during the visit of 1954.
The film ends with a number of superimposed images of a family excursion to Tynemouth where film footage appears to be superimposed on country scenes or pictures of plants and shrubs.
