[Colour] The film opens to show the river Tees with Barnard Castle in the distance standing on it's cliff top overlooking the river.
Film cuts to two women walking in the grounds of a single storey stone built cottage, this is followed by a view of Warkworth Castle, with boats on the river Coquet in the foreground.
General views follow of the castle and grounds of Drumlanrig Castle in what is now Dumfries & Galloway.
This is followed by views of the River Nith (?) which runs near Drumlanrig Castle showing a waterfall, a weir and a stone bridge. The film cuts to a car going through a ford or a flooded section of road.
The film cuts to a view of Drumlanrig Road in the village of Thornhill three miles south from Drumlanrig Castle. Some people are gathered near the front of the Buccleuch and Queensberry hotel in the village. A monument nearby called the Mercat Cross can be seen.
A toddler plays with a ball in sand dunes near his parents. Some women sitting nearby on the dunes watch the fun. The film cuts to motorcycle racing on a beach possibly at South Shields.
An extended sequence features a number of ornamental gardens in public parks in Morpeth, followed by a visit to Fountains Abbey and Ripon, where a short sequence shows Ripon cathedral from a side street and general views show the landscaped gardens and temple at nearby Studley Royal park. This excursion to Yorkshire finishes with a visit to Fountains Abbey and general views of the ruins.
[B&W] General views of trees some uprooted, and bushes on the banks of a river, possibly the river Wear at Durham.
[Colour] The film changes to show the Lake District. A pony looks over a fence and man talks to it. A general view shows mountains and a lake.
Next a view of a large stone built detached house in a rural village.
The film cuts to the entrance of a roadside petrol station and garage. A sign on the outside wall of the main building reads Hamsterley Motors (?), Rowlands Gill.

Two women stand outside the white-washed Brackenrigg Hotel now the Brackenrigg Inn at Watermillock overlooking Ullswater lake.
General views follow of a group of people walking around a garden. In the countryside a man tries to light a camping stove which is shielded from the wind by a small canvas windbreak. A woman walks under a tree in a garden. The film ends with a woman seated outside in a garden, occupying herself with some knitting.
