A royal cavalcade follows, with crowds waving flags as Prince Charles waves from the car as it goes past. The film cuts to a station sign which reads Cardiff (General).
The film cuts to a station platform as enthusiasts take pictures of an approaching diesel train. The train leaves the station a passenger shoots film from a window on board looking towards the engine. The train runs along a hillside on the left a river or lake. The train continues through steep mountainsides, and past a lake or sea inlet. A brief stop then it leaves another station. The train moves off from a platform and the camera follows its progress . Enthusiasts gather next to a stationary carriage nearby.
The film cuts to a bright blue A4 Pacific engine no. 4498 Sir Nigel Gresley, as it reverses in some sidings. The film cuts to a high angle view showing a railway cutting with trees either side, a train comes towards the camera from a distance and at this point the film ends.
