This film by railway enthusiast Chris Lawson concentrates on steam engines and trains working throughout the North East region and beyond. Some filmed events include special railway enthusiasts excursions. The film opens with a steam train approaching the camera at speed then moving off into the distance. The film cuts to the same (?) engine as it emerges from a tunnel spouting plumes of steam in open country.  Another steam engine negotiates a curve, followed by a high angle view which reveals a station building at the beginning of the curve. General views follow of a high speed steam train travelling along rail track in a rural setting. The film then shows steam engine 43121 a class 4F-A, Ivatt 2-6-0, preparing to pull a train, possibly in the Alston/South Tynedale railway area in Weardale. The train crosses a viaduct, the film then cuts to an urban signal box as a steam locomotive travelling in reverse approaches the camera pulling a train.  On board a steam enthusiasts train (c.1965), the view from the camera looks along the train from a carriage door window, a man puts his head out of the window to enjoy the view. As the train takes a left hand curve, a number of other passengers do the same. The film then cuts to engine number 43063, another class 4F-A  Ivatt designed 2-6-0. This may have been taken on 2nd October 1966 as it pulled the last train in service over the former North British Railway branch from Morpeth to Reedsmouth Junction, the train terminated at West Woodburn (line closed and lifted beyond that point).  The train, the  'Wansbeck Piper' train is seen at Morpeth being photographed by numbers of enthusiasts.  The film cuts to a goods engine pulling freight. The next sequence shows engine number 61278 a B1 Thompson, 4-6-0, possibly running the last 'B1' excursion on the 3rd December 1966 from Edinburgh (Waverley) to Carlisle (Kingsmoor) and back.  A static shot of the engine follows as it takes on water. In wilder country and in winter sunshine a steam train approaches leaving snow topped hills behind. The goods train travels into the distance, plumes of steam coming from the chimney. General views follow of another engine travelling over a small viaduct. Another general view follows of an engine as it travels over the Settle To Carlisle viaduct(?). The film cuts to a station platform as a steam train approaches at speed. From a high angle viewpoint another steam train heads away from the camera down a valley.  Taken from a low angle another steam train traverses an embankment . On the same embankment the film captures another engine heading in the opposite direction. More general views of steam trains are followed by a high angle view of a steam train as it enters a station, negotiating a large number of rail crossing points. Another steam engine leaves the same station, a LMS Class Stanier Black 5 5MT 4-6-0, built at Crewe. Another view follows of the same train (?) as it heads down a railway cutting. General views follow taken from a low angle of steam trains on an embankment, the film ends as a goods train goes across flat moorland terrain.
