The film opens on a tugboat travelling upstream along the river Tees. On the far shore area number of large metal struts, possibly part of the construction for an oil platform. A large cargo ship is moored along a nearby quayside. Two Tees Towing Company tugs boats pilot a cargo ship upstream towards Middlesbrough Dock.  One of the boats is at the bow of the ship and the other at the stern. The boat at the stern is travelling backwards. The film ends with a young man sitting on the steps of a house.
