Amateur filmmaker Ronald Pringle records a number of  excursions out in the Scottish countryside and coast during the spring and summer of 1974. On a shell beach at the southern tip of the Kintyre peninsula, a man examines some of the shells. In a harbour fishing boats are moored. General views of a beach follow. The film shows the lamp room of a lighthouse, with some intriguing views of the lenses which surround the lamp. Outside, a notice warns of a dangerous road leading to the lighthouse. A road signpost directs the traveller to Mull of Kintyre lighthouse. A metal plaque is mounted on stone, which gives outline information for the Kilmartin-Glebe Cairn, an iron age monument. General views of other signposts guiding tourists to Kilmartin sculptured stones and Kilmartin crosses. General views follow of ornamental gardens, then to a road crossing moorland countryside [Durness?]. A solitary house comes into view, followed by a secluded cove and beach. A road sign reads: 'Turn Left for Balnakeil craft village'. Balnakeil is a hamlet in the parish of Durness, in the north of the county of Sutherland, Scottish Highlands. General views follow of windswept dunes on a beach, followed by the Corrieshalloch Gorge national park situated on the Droma River south of Ullapool in the Scottish Highlands. General views show the extent of the gorge and the stream at the bottom.  A suspension footbridge straddles the gorge from where visitors take photographs. Inverewe Garden is a botanical garden in the Scottish Highlands to the north of Poolewe in Wester Ross, a large white house stands at the end of a driveway [Inverewe House]. The luxurious gardens skirt the edge of Loch Ewe, as shown by general views of colourful borders, followed by a high angle view of Loch Ewe. A dramatic notice fills the screen. A government notice asks visitors not to travel to Gruinard Island in Gruinard Bay, half way between Ullapool and Gairloch in the Highlands. The notice warns of contaminated land due to experiments in biological warfare using anthrax. Away from the notice, the camera shows the island in the distance. General views follow of moorland and mountains. The Stornoway Ferry is pictured with a rainbow against a dark grey sky. General views follow of a ferry leaving Loch Broom (?). The film cuts to general views of a wild highland landscape taken from a minor road, with mountains in the background. There's an entrance gate to Inverewe Gardens. There follows a view of a picturesque bay, possibly at Achnahaird. General views follow of moorland landscapes with solitary houses.  A road sign warns of the difficulties of taking a road to Applecross. General views follow of the Clansmen ferry leaving Torridon ad the ferry out on the loch. More general views of moorland and mountains follow. A road sign reads Inverpolly national nature reserve, a large area of western Sutherland in the Northwest Highlands of Scotland, north of Ullapool. General views follow of moorland and wild plants and of mist covered mountains. The film ends with general views of Achnahaird Bay, the Summer Isles at the entrance to Loch Broom, and the village of Achilitibuie.
