A series of short films made by Maurice Clyde of various activities and events taking place with members of the Doxford Engines Friends Association (DEFA). Events recorded include a visit by Dr Thomas Knudsen to the South Tyneside Marine College in South Shields to see the Doxford Experimental Engine, visits to the Pallion Shipyard and Doxford's Old Works and a visit to Beamish, the North of England Open Air Museum to see their new museum stores. At the South Tyneside Marine College Dr Knudsen pulls a leave on a Doxford engine. Members and the Doxford Engines Friends Association looking around the workshop watched by a number of students. The film cuts to a visit to the Ryhope Engine Museum near Sunderland where there are views of the pump house and chimney as well as the Victorian beam engine inside. Model boats are on display on the pond.
