Title: Messrs Bolex have asked us to announce that the camera used on this production was an Admira …
A business man in a bowler hat arrives home after work. He spots a big wooden crate labelled ‘fragile’ outside his front door. He walks around the object, puzzled. He goes inside and emerges without his hat. He measures the width of the crate against the width of the doorway to his home. The crate will not fit. He tries to move it but it’s far too heavy. He reaches for a small garden fork and tries to lever it open.
His next door neighbour arrives back home and looks at him quizzically. He explains about the mysterious packing crate.
The bald business man prises apart one side of the crate. A veiled woman looks out at him. He closes the panel of the crate quickly, shocked. He opens it fully and a beautiful young Middle Eastern woman in harem pants and veil emerges. He throws her over his shoulder and carries her into his house.
The woman is feeding him grapes as he lounges on his sofa glancing at the delivery note with the surprise package, acting as if he is a sultan in a harem. The delivery notes read: “Nile Traders Ltd. Tangiers. As requested – One ‘SLAVE GIRL’ on seven days free trial. Send no money yet.”
The bald bachelor business man can’t believe his luck. He smirks. He claps his hand and imitates a dance. She pulls a cushion from behind the sofa and presents him with a bar of Fry’s Turkish Delight – “full of Eastern promise”. He takes the chocolate bar. She proceeds to dance in front of a tacky wall mural poster of a mountain landscape. He eats the chocolate whilst lecherously enjoying the dance.
He claps the performance. He starts to reach towards the ‘slave girl’ when the doorbell rings. A blacked-up man in a turban is at his door. The bald business man answers the door. The ‘slave girl’ looks sulky. The blacked-up man explains that the deliveries have been mixed up. The business man receives his own order and the blacked-up man carries the ‘slave girl’ off down the street. She waves to him as she is carried away.
The bald business man unwraps his own package and finds an electric blanket inside.
