Compilation of miscellaneous amateur and commercial footage, which includes shots of the British light biplane bomber, the Fairey Fox 3; a fancy dress parade in Northallerton to celebrate the Coronation of King George VI in May 1937; and three weddings, including one wedding filmed during World War Two. A light, biplane bomber, the Fairey Fox 3 (Registration G-ABYY) is prepared for take-off on a grass airfield, probably pre-1933, at The Great West Aerodrome, also known as Harmondsworth Aerodrome or Heathrow Aerodrome. Amateur footage follows of a rainy day parade in Northallerton, many of the men, women and children in fancy dress, which takes place for the 1937 Coronation of George VI and Queen Elizabeth. Some people carry umbrellas. People wave from the decorated floats that make their way down the High Street, including one that recreates a home complete with a tin bath and pram. Another float sports a banner that reads “North Riding Quins”. A horse-drawn cart carries a cattle pen, farmer and tree. The parade passes Kellet and Picks garage. A lifeboat float is followed by some highly decorated cars, and local firemen on fire engines. Overhead shot of the parade approaching a junction. More of the floats are recorded, one bearing a banner that reads “Long May They Reign”. The next sequences record three weddings. A newly married couple pose for photographs at the entrance to a church. The bride, groom and guests leave the church and walk through the cemetery after the wedding, some smiling as they pass closely to the camera. The couple, best man and bridesmaids carrying bouquets pose for more portrait shots the Rex Car Park in the background. The couple smile happily as they pose. More informal group portraits follow. A (different) bride and groom, not dressed in formal wedding attire, attend a registrar’s office to marry. The couple pose in the portico. The next shot is of signs attached to the wheel at the back of a Ford car that read “L Both Ways” and “Just married L Driver”. The wedding group come out of the registrar’s office. A sign on the railings outside reads “Air Raid Precautions Binoculars Obtainable Inside” suggesting the wedding takes place during World War Two. Close-up of a poster for the RAC Veteran Car Run between London and Brighton on 2nd November 1952, starting at Serpentine Road, Hyde Park, and concluding at the Aquarium, Brighton, “Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Emancipation Day 1896”. The veteran cars proceed through London, one contemporary car carrying a cameraman with a movie camera set up on the roof. Two commercial films follow made by Walton Films under the title ‘Speed Crazy’, released in 1954. Title: Speed Crazy Firstly, a film shows a speeded-up car ride through Central London streets, from Whitehall, around Trafalgar Square and along the Strand. Title: 700 m.p.h.
