Promotional film produced for Reyrolle Technology, part of Rolls-Royce Industrial Power Group, and their British Short Circuit Test Station at Hebburn. The film shows testing carried out at the centre and it's international accreditation, its confidentiality and independence in the testing of electrical equipment. The film opens on a montage of images showing electric transmission towers or pylons in a rural setting, views of the British Short-Circuit Test Station at Hebburn, a Tyne & Wear Metro car travelling through an unknown station and an electric arc.

There are general views of the test site at Hebburn showing the large test bay and various transformers and cables going in and around the site.
The film cuts to inside the test facility itself and men in lab coats walking around and large transformers used in testing hanging down from the ceiling. The film changes to a man sitting at a computer with lines of data displayed on his screen.
The film changes to archive footage of tests being carried out at the centre during the 1930s with a number of transformers being overloaded and exploding and/or catching fire.
The film returns to contemporary view of the site at Hebburn.

The film cuts to show certificates for the ‘National Measurements Accreditation Scheme’ and an ‘ASTA Certificate of Accreditation’.
A general view shows a man at the controls of a set of switches and levers followed by a view of printer printing out a graph. A man reads the results on a Signal Memory Recorder.
Inside the test lab three men in lab coats push a scaffolding platform into positon underneath a large machine. Views of lighting cut to show the machine that generates a four-million volt strike and a man at the controls.
A view of an electrical arc cuts to show a man walking into the 160 cubic metre environmental chamber.
At another part of the test lab a technician is wiring a piece of equipment in readiness for live wire testing. Another technician reads a Memory Recorder.
An electrical arc is created between two parts of a transformer being tested from a man at a set of controls. In another part of the laboratory another man reads the results of the test on a computer screen.
The film changes to show a set of double doors opening into a Control Room where men and women work. A man walks over to a bank of switches and turns a number of levers.
The film changes to show two Parsons short-circuit generators installed in a building. This is followed by a view of a set of compressor banks used for synthetic testing.
More views of men at work inside the test bay is followed by views of a keypad security pad and the security ID of a member of staff.
General views follow of various pieces of equipment used to record test results including a data recorder and an oscilloscope.

The film cuts to show a number of other men sitting at computers working on new standards in relation to power system analysis.
General views showing oil gas platforms at sea cuts back to more views of men at work at the test lab. The film changes again to aerial views of an oil refinery near the Tees Estuary and a small cargo ship at sea. General views show Newcastle Airport follow and the film ends with views of the testing station back at Hebburn.
