This compilation of amateur film fragments, partly filmed by George Cummin, a member of Newcastle & District Amateur Cinematographers Association (ACA), consists of random clips from a caravan holiday, a trip to Oxford and other family holidays, home life and on the set of cine club film productions. Some sequences feature his wife, Norah Cummin.

George Cummin opens a wooden gate for his family in the countryside, his cine camera slung over his shoulder. The camera pans up to show the steep hillside behind a farm. The family climb a steep hill. They hunker down against a bitter wind near the top of the hill. George and Norah have reached a cairn on the hilltop.

Amateur filmmaker and actor Reg. Townsend speaks to an audience at Newcastle ACA’s headquarters at Ship’s Entry and presentations of trophies take place.

A man points out plants in his garden to Norah Cummin. He stands with a family group in the garden and speaks to camera. Norah emerges from the house and beckons to the filmmaker to come inside.
