The opening shot shows a map of the British Isles. The camera moves in on the North East region. An animated section showing Yorkshire appears. The Cleveland area is highlighted along the Northern edge of the North Riding. A close-up of this is highlighted on a model of the terrain, showing Cleveland’s position relative to Durham and Yorkshire, and the concetration of Cleveland’s agricultural land.

A diagram of the locations of ironstone mines follows, followed by shots of the Trustee Drift mine at Eston, followed by South Skelton pit and a shale heap thought to be at Kilton pit near Brotton. The incline to the tip yard viewed from the top of Low Drum, men pull on haulage ropes. Interior shots of the tipping shed in the tip yard as wagons are emptied of their contents. A man empties a railway wagon into the crusher plant after it's journey from the tip yard. Ironstone is seen on conveyor belt, followed by a view of a locomotive and wagons on Eston Branch Railway.

A crowd of workers leave the gondola which hangs from the Transporter Bridge and travels between Port Clarence and Middlesbrough.

This sequence includes a shot of car coming up the hill on the main road through Eston, a shot of a major trunk road and of another road with traffic.

Views of the Newport Bridge, with bridge deck raised, as a small ship passes beneath.The bridge deck is lowered and the safety gates are opened to allow traffic back onto the bridge. Long shot of the bridge, followed by a view of the Transporter Bridge with a fully loaded gondola.
