Out-takes from amateur film shot by Arthur Philpson showing the unloading of iron ore from the ore carrier ‘Ore Prince’ at Tyne Dock and it’s transportation by train to The Consett Iron Company Ltd at Consett in County Durham.
The film opens with a ship moored at the dockside.

A steam good train travels up an incline as it crosses stone-built bridge over a road. The film then moves to a view of cranes in operation. On the deck of a cargo ship a worker pulls on a thick rope, some other workers operate a winch.
The film next shows a view of a large bulk cargo carrier ship entering the River Tyne guide by tugs. Views follow of a crane’s ropes tightening as an excavation bucket grabs a load of iron ore from a ship’s hold. A large steam locomotive moves off slowly. Engine 992064 is a BR9F class locomotive built at Crewe works in 1955 with a working life at Tyne dock it was withdrawn from service in 1966.
A closer view follows of a tug in operation as it guides the huge bulk carrier ‘Ore-Prince’ along the Tyne. A closer view follows of the funnel and bridge of the tug as it manoeuvres the 1956 built Ore Prince. Next a view looks upwards to the radar equipment at the top of the ship. The flag flying is possibly the Liberian flag. An officer stands on deck looking over the hull’s perimeter [blurred]. Men work on the ship’s hold hatchways as the hatches slide open to reveal the cargo. [blurred] The Ore-Prince is secured to the quayside by rope; a closer view follows of the ship’s superstructure.
More of the cargo hatches are opened, a member of the ship’s crew throws white sacks onto the quayside. The ship lowers a yellow flag, this signal flag is used when a foreign ship enters a harbour and is a request for customs and immigration services. A view follows across the deck of the Ore-Prince looking out across the Tyne. A steam locomotive negotiates a curve in the track while hauling a train of ore wagons. At the quayside a crane removes ore from the holds of the Ore-Prince.
[Blank Section]
Two locomotives at either end of a train of ore wagons, negotiates a curve. Another locomotive takes on water at a water tower.
A view of a crane that takes the ore out of the ship’s hold is followed by a locomotive billowing smoke and steam from its chimney as it approaches the camera, another locomotive pushes from the back as travels into the distance.
The film once more cuts to ore being unloaded form the Ore-Prince. A high angle view probably taken from a bridge shows another steam locomotive pulling a train of wagons around a shallow curve in the track.
Another view filmed from a bridge shows a locomotive billowing smoke and steam and without a load heading past a signal box. Engine number 92167 is a R Riddles built class BR9F engine built at Crewe in 1958 with a working life at Tyne dock and was withdrawn from service in 1968. Another view of locomotives at work shows an engine pushing a train of ore wagons as another at the head of the train pulls.
A blank section ends the film.
