The film begins with a family trip to London Zoo followed by a ploughing competition taking place on a farm possibly in Northumberland. The extended family stay in a special caravan site for theatricals at St Anne-on-the-Sea as the brothers were performing the summer season at nearby Blackpool. The family enjoy time relaxing on the beach or around the campsite. The film also features a visit to Saltcoats in Ayrshire, Scotland to visit Molly’s parents.

Inside London Zoo Molly Smith and daughter Linda look at the various animals in their cages including chimpanzees, a Brown bear which Linda throws pieces of bread at, a female lion prowling up and down her cage, a Polar bear and a goat with its kid. In another enclosure a female Emperor penguin feeding her chick. A crowd, including Molly and Linda, gather around an elephant. On a farm Stan holds his daughter posing beside a large shire horse. A crowd watches as a man ploughs a field using horsepower. One of Stan’s brothers jokingly attempts to use a plough, he quickly changes his mind. Several women come to pose and stroke one of the horses. At a special caravan site for theatrical performs at St Anne-on-the-Sea in Lancashire an older man plays with a Scotty dog beside a caravan. Linda wearing only a nappy is given a beer bottle by her mother, she tries to drink from the empty container. The Scotty dog plays with a ball changing to a small crowd watches as a young girl performs a dance routine. Molly and Linda stand beside a miniature pony-and-trap changes to Linda driving a pedal car around a circuit assisted by her mother. Beside a beach Linda sits in another miniature car painted red changing to a farm where Linda walks past a man holding a young child. Back at the caravan site the Scotty dog plays. Wearing a white dress, Linda walks along a path and sniffs a flower growing in a bed beside the path. On a beach Molly, Linda and the dog playing in the sand. Standing in the surf Stan holds and poses with his daughter. With a cigarette hanging from his mouth, he helps her build a sandcastle. A crowd watches as cricket match between a team of theatricals and a team of locals. A smaller crowd gather around a group of players standing chatting on the edge of the grass. Four men, possibly Stan’s brothers Alfred, Harold, Martin, and Royston Smith, stand together posing for the camera, behind them a large crowd. A man speaks into a microphone, beside him a man in mayoral chains. Back at the caravan site Linda walks past carrying a bucket and spade. The Scotty dog digs around in the sand changing to it sitting in a pram back at the caravan park being pushed by Linda. [Dark] Inside the caravan children enjoy a meal, outside two dogs play fight watched by Linda and a small boy. In the garden of Molly’s parents at Saltcoats in Ayrshire the family gathers in the back garden for a portrait photograph. The family come out of the back door of the house changing to a butterfly resting on a flower in the garden. Molly poses with her parents then a younger man, possibly a brother. [Dark] Linda stands beside a car. In a back garden Molly stands beside her mother, who is wearing a fur coat, and another small girl. Three more children come to stand beside then, Molly’s mother walks past carrying one of the younger girls. The family comes out of the front door of the house standing in a street beside a parked car. Back at the caravan site one of the Smith brothers puts on a pair of trousers and a shirt. A Union Jack is on the rear of his underpants, he pulls down his trousers flashing it at the camera. The other Smith brothers kiss their children before departing. Outside a theatre along Blackpool promenade advertising material for ‘The Five Smith Brothers’. Stan carries Linda along the promenade changes to a group standing at the counter of an amusement arcade. The film ends on a large bouquet.
