The film begins with shots of the unloading of boxes of Melrose's Tea and other goods from a ship. Shots follow of barge-type boats moored along a quayside, shops in the background, one with the name "Benhiant Stornoway."
A brief close-up shot of a small girl carrying a wicker basket and eating, dog's head in foreground.
A man dresses in a deep-sea diving suit, assisted by another man. This is thought to be Royal Navy diver Commander Lionel 'Buster' Crabb. Crabb submerges in the sea.
Holiday footage in Iona, on the Isle of Mull near Bunessan, and along the coastline near Tobermory during very windy weather.
The film captures ferry arrival and unloading of goods, visit to a church with some interior shots (possibly Iona), a sheep and lamb on grass in front of church.
In the following footage there are brief recurring shots of Mrs Porteous and son, Ian
Travelling shots on small boat on choppy sea, with coastline visible, heads of people in shot. When boat has moored, there is a brief shot of ferryman in souwester. A close-up of a signpost reads: Bunessan 5 ½ Sculen 39, Tobermory 49 ½
Very brief shots follow of landscape beside loch or Sound of Mull, a waterfall, flowers, people heading along a village road, a boat and steamer on sea. A 1950s bus waits at a stop with rear side sign "I know where I'm going". A young man (previously seen in film) passes camera.
Landscape shots, views through the (stationary) bus window, men working with a section of pipeline, and the Western Isle Hotel are depicted.
The film closes with various shots on a small row boat, the young man rowing towards a waterfall, then Tobermory harbour or waterfront, with a sign for Tobermory.
