Title: The Real Pull of the Lakes: The Story of Jennings A lake, possibly Bassenthwaite, in the Lake District surrounded by high hills is followed by Jennings Castle Brewery at Cockermouth. Traffic moves along Main Street in the town past the war memorial, views of Cockermouth Castle and the brewery again at the confluence of the rivers Cocker and Derwent with water flowing over rocks. Archive photograph of the company’s founder John Jennings followed by views of the village of Lorton and the village hall which use to be John Jennings maltings. Inside a hardwood floor underneath a stone floor that was used for drying barley for brewing. A series of archive photographs of the Jennings brothers who’s name the company is taken from and the development of the new brewery site at Cockermouth. General views of the brewery at Cockermouth and drinkers enjoying Jennings beers in a local pub. A female tour guide at the Cockermouth brewery introduces herself to a visiting group before taking them on a tour of the site. A description of the production of beer at the brewery from the milling of the malt to the filling of metal barrels with the finish brew. Back at the pub the barman pulls a pint of Cumberland Ale which, again, is placed on a mat sitting on the bar. The rural view of the lake seen at the start of the film now with trees and houses beside the water and high hills surrounding it. Back in Cockermouth a woman walking past a Jennings pub. A selection of beers on offer by the brewery follows including Jennings Bitter, Cumberland Ale and the Sneck Lifter. A map of the North of England with Jennings at the centre of Cumbria is followed by the exterior of a series of Jennings pubs around Cumbria. At the Jennings distribution centre at Workington an articulated lorry leaves the depot with a consignment of beer. The map seen previous expands to show Great Britain and other Jennings distributions depots in Lancashire and Northumberland as well Scotland. Back inside the pub two foaming pints of Jennings beer are pulled and placed on the bar followed by someone taking a tray of drinks to a table where those sitting around it consume their drinks. The film ends on an image of a country road leading towards a lake and across the bottom of the screen the company’s motto: Title: “to be recognised as a successful traditional brewer dedicated to providing a first-class customer service” End title: Produced for Jennings Brothers PLC by Turners Visual Communications End Titles: Jennings Brothers PLC End Credit: Producer John Grant.
