This film includes footage of a carnival and parade which take place in Pool in Wharfedale on May 6th, 1935. The carnival includes military bands, fancy dress floats, folk dancing, tug of war and prize giving, girl guides.
After going up Otley Road as far as Torrocks Hill, the parade finished in what is now Parklands estate. Identified groups include Mr D.H.Whiteley's wife Lucy as the figure of Justice, the Pool St Wilfred's FC float, the Rev Sidney Jammey, Mr Whiteley's...

After going up Otley Road as far as Torrocks Hill, the parade finished in what is now Parklands estate. Identified groups include Mr D.H.Whiteley's wife Lucy as the figure of Justice, the Pool St Wilfred's FC float, the Rev Sidney Jammey, Mr Whiteley's cousin Bill walking by a Chrysler motor car followed by Arthur Kaye's car, Jack Pickles in a dunce's cap, and Alma Whiteley as the Jubilee Queen. Mr Everett of the Parish council, Rev Mrs Mercer (who crowns the carnival queen) & Edgar Wilson (the organiser) all make speeches. Dennis Jammey appears dressed as a soldier. A group of bowler hatted men from the Whiteley ex-workers housing appear. There is a free tea and present giving. Mrs Everett hands out the children's prizes.
