Scarborough is the only town where Shrove Tuesday long-rope skipping takes place. Title – Home Week at Scarborough Title – Through the Age's [sic] A procession makes its way down the street.  It’s made up of various floats and lots of people are involved. Crowds watch from the sides.  Coaches and horses with people in period costume are involved, as well as a medieval float including people in stocks. There are also old fire engines, a float for the ‘Scarborough Jolly Rogers all year-round bathing club’, a marching band, fisherman’s float, and people on bicycles and penny farthings. A nurse flat goes past, as do the horses and hounds of the hunt.  Shots of streets full of garlands, which hang between buildings, and crowds of people. Title – Scarborough 1935 Shot from the south end of South Bay, looking over to the castle and then down to the sea front.  Views of the gardens and hotels of South Bay.  Following this are scenes of some of Scarborough’s landmarks including:  high up view of the town from Oliver’s Mount, followed by a shot of the monument; view of Valley Bridge and scenes of road in Scarborough town; view of the marine drive in North Bay, then panning up to the Castle; view of Peasholm Park lake, and then of a boating lake surrounded by benches; shot of south Bay spa roundabout, then of the mini train, boats in the sea, and then donkeys on the sand.  At the South Bay swimming pool, people are using the diving boards and views of the fountains and large crowds surrounding the pool.  Miss Velocity, a speed boat, is filmed also from the water.  Large waves are shown crashing into the marine drive wall. Cars attempt to drive on the flooded road.  Shots to a pantomime show – girls singing, the dame and donkey, dances and songs, and then final bows.  People are skating on a frozen pond, possibly somewhere on the moors. Geoffrey skates and does some tricks. A woman is also there, they embrace before she also skates.  Geoffrey is then shown skating in another location. Still on a frozen lake or pond.  The film ends with Shrove Tuesday celebrations in Scarborough, long rope skipping.  It starts with two men jumping with a skipping rope, followed by a woman.  Shots of a very crowded marine drive in South Bay, where everyone is skipping in groups.
