This film shows preparations in Swaledale for an agricultural show, and a fell run across the countryside.
The film opens with a view of the river Swale meandering through a valley. Next a young girl looks through a tear in the fabric of a marquee to see what’s going on inside. Views follow of preparations for an agricultural show with folding seats lying on the ground and a man securing some rope on a wooden structure. In the distance is a sheep pen.
A number of brass band instruments lie on the grass next to a stone wall. A general view shows people and cars on the show field.
From a hillside, the show field can be seen in the distance nestling at the bottom of a valley, the river Swale in the foreground.
Fell runners cross the river, the camera shows contestants coming through a gate in a stone wall. Next a view follows of a windswept hillside, which cuts back to a closer view of the gate runners negotiated earlier, this time they climb over the gate.
The film shows the contestants being tested to the limit as they go up a steep hillside. This film ends with a downhill section on a concreted track as two runners pass by.
