There are shots of the beach and shore line with Scarborough’s Grand Hotel in the distance. At sea a metal drum floats amongst the waves, followed by a view of the entrance to Scarborough Spa.
The film cuts to rough seas with a few people walking on the beach in the distance. A woman walks her dogs on the beach, and a fishing boat negotiates rough seas. Seagulls perch on a fence next to the harbour, with the spa buildings in the far distance. A brief view of boats and a small slip road to the harbour cuts to the frontage of an ice cream parlour, followed by views of other small snack kiosks boarded up for the closed season. General views show people walking along the promenade and the beach followed by fishing nets drying over metal railings.
[Colour]
A brass band plays for an audience sitting in deck chairs in the sunshine, large numbers of people walk along the promenade, a slow-motion section shows others try to find space on a crowded beach. General views show various ball games being played on the beach.

Trays of freshly gutted fish in steel containers are stacked on the quayside. Fishermen attend to their boats carrying out repairs or painting them. Along the fish quay advertisements show the names of specialist fish merchants. Fishermen load empty crates onto their boat followed by general views of the fish quay. A man and woman walk to the entrance of the Corner Café. An interior view shows the counter and seating area of another small snack bar.
An advertisement attached to a building on the quayside urges visitors not to forget their Scarborough rock and novelties. This is followed by a view of Bethel Mission Chapel at Sandside followed by one of the carriages on the funicular railway as it makes its way uphill. General views show amusement arcades and novelty shops along the seafront. At the funfair buildings, carousels and other rides are static and locked up for the closed season. A notice on a gate reads: ‘Staff Wanted – Including Part-Time Cashier’
[Colour]
A high angle view of part of the deserted funfair transforms into colour and a busy summer season, with fairground rides and stalls crowded with visitors. Amusement arcades and bumper cars also attract the crowds. Young and old seek thrills on the helter-skelter ride. The one-armed bandit machines in an amusement arcade also attracts all ages

A view from out at sea shows Scarborough’s seafront and the Grand Hotel in the distance, a fishing boat goes slowly by. Two women walk along the beach, a dog walks on ahead of them. A man does some sea angling from a stone wall, another walks alone on the quayside, the sea rolls in on a virtually deserted beach. The film ends with the same image it began with a static view of the beach at sunset.
