Men and women smile at the camera from a rowing boat. They leave the boat and go onto land. There are lots of people roller skating. Some people fall while others glide passed the camera. Young people enjoy a fast teacup ride at a fairground. Children play on swings. A man reads a religious book to a crowd of people outside. A priest stands next to him on the street. A brass band plays for an audience in the street. Women congregate and smile at the camera.
INTERTITLE: GARDEN PARTY 1950 SUNDAY SCHOOL QUEEN 'BETTY BROWN' CAPTAIN 'GRAHAM CLARKE'.
Children are dressed in fine clothes and march slowly in a procession. They carry flowers on sticks. The Queen and Captain are part of the procession. It comes to a stop and both are then seated. The Queen is crowned, and the Captain receives a badge. Young women then dance in a circle as an older woman plays the piano. The procession then becomes the focus again. There are close-ups of many of the youths who are participating. A small audience is seated and watching the ceremony. Children take part in a fancy-dress competition. An audience watches the proceedings. A band conductor waves his baton. There are shots of children and adults crowded around long tables. Families have picnics in the grass. Children crowd around the camera.
