The film was shot at different locations on 20th – 22nd October of that year, showing traffic congestion at major junctions in Sheffield.
The film opens with long lines of traffic at a busy intersection in Sheffield. A policeman, dressed in white, directs traffic. The streets are lined with both houses and businesses, and following this is a shot of an empty bus stop. The filmmaker moves onto different locations and vantage points throughout the city. At a spot near a bridge, tramlines can be seen running along the streets.
Various modes of transportation are also featured in the film including cars, lorries, and motorcycles. Pedestrians and cyclists can also be seen at different points. At the Lady’s Bridge Hotel, the road is busy with traffic. Elsewhere, near a large grassy area, policemen direct traffic at the different junctions. On a wet and dreary day, roads in and out of the city centre are backed up. These appear to be more residential areas of Sheffield. Cyclists and pedestrians can also be seen.
Specific roads and locations include:
Queen’s Road, Myrtle Road, Bramall Lane
Ridgeway Road, Manor Top
Wicker including shots through the arches up Spital Hill
Lady’s Bridge, Castlegate, Bridge Street including shots up Waingate and down Wicker
London Road, Ecclesall Road
Furnival Road, Blonk Street
Glossop road, Fitzwilliam Street
Manchester Road, Fulwood Road
Hunters Bar
Granville Road, Suffolk Road, Shoreham Street
