This film was taken during the 1974 Lombard Royal Automobile Club (R.A.C.) Rally, the largest, most high-profile rally in the UK.  The route consists of roads all over the UK usually over bleak hillsides and though dank, muddy forests in wet and foggy conditions.  The 1974 finished in York and also includes locations such as Sutton Park, North Yorkshire. The film opens with parked cars ready for the rally.  Drivers, crew, and spectators are wondering about, chatting and looking at the cars.  Each car has a visible number on the side door.  There are shots of individual cars and divers before the cars make their way to the track.  Spectators and crew members have gathered at the side.  Part of the race takes place at night; the taillights of the racing cars can be seen.     The rest of the film consists of footage from various vantage points along the route.  The windy roads cut through wooded areas, and at certain points along the route, spectators have gathered to watch.  It looks to be a cold winter day, misty and foggy with a low sun.  Many different competitors pass by the cameraman during the race.
