The film begins with a poster: Thrift Welfare Department Opening of the New Cricket Ground on Bridge Road, Kirkstall by Mr. Herbert Sutcliffe, Wednesday 1st May 1935 at 5:15 pm. Thrift Headquarters v. Thrift Branches Both sides will be aided by members of the Yorkshire Teams. Collection in the aide of the Leeds Infirmary.

Herbert Sutcliffe makes a speech, and a man raises a flag on the flagpole. This is followed by another speech. Batsmen walk back to the pavilion. There are shots of the spectators, and the teams come off the pitch at the end.
