This film was taken during a holiday in Europe during the summer of 1936. Cities on the tour include Stockholm, Helsinki, Copenhagen, and Hamburg.
The film begins at a café in a village, followed by a visit to a city, possibly Stockholm, with a traditional dance performance. Two women are standing outside another larger café before there is a shot of a windmill. There is a large group of buildings, one with a sign for “Intourist,” and above the door, “Leningrad.” It looks to be near some docks and a large stockpile of timber. There is a long line of ships standing in the docks of a wide river. Next to the ships there is also a long line of large holdings, possibly of coal or some similar raw material. There is a brief view of passengers on a cruise before a short break and a view of a shoreline from a ship.
Next is Helsinki city centre, with the cathedral and the central Railway Station, and possibly a hotel. They take a walk along a promenade by a lake. Some people are relaxing, and there is a shot of a busy city centre. Then back continuing the cruise back at sea, looking at passing sailing boats.
There is another short break and another city, possibly Copenhagen. There is a tour of the city sights, and a statue of Hamlet. There is a large cruise ship, “The Empress of Australia”, in some docks along with smaller boats, with passengers on one of them, and a row of motorbikes parked up by the docks. There is another break and we are in another city, possibly Hamburg, with the Schadendorff Hotel in Arhensburg, just outside of Hamburg, with people milling about in the town square. The city centre streets are busy and decked out in Olympic banners. There is the Hamburg Town Hall and another large building, the Albingia. They continue onto the town market, and they visit the Planetarium and a river with boats going along it. There are motorcycles parked outside a Shell garage, and a building with the name “Verlag Hamburger Tageblatt G M B H”, opposite the town hall. Then they are back at the hotel, where there is a war memorial. We see some new houses in the village, boats, and the film finishes as they make their way back home on the ship.
