This is a film of the Scout Groups of St Thomas, Groves and Lord Mayor’s Own, York, on a trip to Norway. It includes footage of the groups leaving England as well as their campsite and trips out of camp in Norway. Title – Norway 1973 The film begins with the shoulder bag produced for the trip showing the Yorkshire Rose, World Scout Emblem and the names of the 3 Scout Groups involved - St Thomas, Groves and Lord Mayor’s Own, all of York. A large group of Scouts, and Leaders are standing in a corner car park with their Scout bags. They board coaches and part of the journey is filmed from on board. They pass a road sign for the A698/A68 to Jedburgh and travel to Newcastle airport. Here they board a plane and arrive in Norway, where they are greeted by local Scout leaders and go to a Scout camp in a wood. They gather around the flags of Norway, the Scouts and a Union Jack, in a circle, and are welcomed to Norway. They are next seen cooking in a wooded area, near an elaborate tree house, with several stories. There is a view from the top of the tree house of the campsite. They board a blue minibus and then transfer to a coach. They then take a ferry to Bergen, disembark, reboard a coach and then take another ferry to Hatvik. From here they board another coach, take a stop along the coast before continuing. They also stop near a waterfall before driving on again, with part of the journey filmed from on board. They stop again by a mountain and have a snowball fight. They stop again by the roadside and buy sweets from a mobile tuck shop. They arrive at the top of a waterfall and take another ferry. They go underneath a waterfall. At the camp site they set up camp next to a lake, make a fire and cook. They are next on another coach trip arriving at the Akvariet aquarium in Bergen where they watch seals before visiting a fish market. They take the Fløibanen funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen, looking at the view from the top. At the end of the visit to Norway they arrive at the Noth Sea Ferry, with their minibus hoisted aboard. The Scouts board the ferry and wave goodbye to a group seeing them off. The ferry gets tugged out to sea and the film ends with Norwegian Scout neckers, badges & hats arranged round the shoulder bag.
