This is a humorous film made by Doug and Norah Brear that bears a warning for those who “do it yourself”.  The film begins with a caption from Amateur Film Maker stating that “This film has been highly commended in the Amateur Movie Maker Top 8 competition. 1962” Title - Chaseley Films Present Title - Do It Yourself  A man, Doug, sits in his garden and browses a copy of the manual for his car.  In it there is warning not to forget one of the instructions, just as the film fades out.  Doug...
This is a humorous film made by Doug and Norah Brear that bears a warning for those who “do it yourself”.  The film begins with a caption from Amateur Film Maker stating that “This film has been highly commended in the Amateur Movie Maker Top 8 competition. 1962” Title - Chaseley Films Present Title - Do It Yourself  A man, Doug, sits in his garden and browses a copy of the manual for his car.  In it there is warning not to forget one of the instructions, just as the film fades out.  Doug goes to his car and jacks up the back to replace a wheel, before going for a drive.  As he drives along country roads he goes to press the brake pedal but nothing happens.  He ends up driving through a field before returning to the road, wiping the sweat from his brow.    He tries his brakes again, but still nothing happens as he heads towards a ford.  He continues his drive, hitting 60 mph as a wall, and a cow, looms up ahead of him, with a road sign for Fishponds Lane.  The screen goes blank and we next see Doug waking up in his chair in the garden having fallen to sleep.  He picks up the car manual and throws it into the pond.
