Title - Castle Revealed
Volunteers are busy excavating by hand the ruins of the Castle, especially around the Barbican Tower and the Keep. It is explained that the excavation has been carried out under the guidance of Dr Phil Mayes, a lecturer at Leeds University, since 1966. There is extensive film of the volunteers excavating, and we see many of the findings: pottery, stonework and carvings. Also shown are the preserved walls, cleaned by water jet. It is explained that the marks of the different masons are recorded. An oven is revealed, with various implements. More excavation is seen before the film comes to an end.
