Made by George Holden, this is a film of a butcher who demonstrates how to make polony.  Polony is the name for a large sausage created from a mixture of beef and pork which was very popular in Britain, though it is now eaten less often.  Opening Titles: A G. Production Title – How to Make Polony Produced and Directed by George B Holden Photographed by Gordon Hewitt In the large preparation area at the back of butcher’s shop, a butcher takes a carcass out of a freezer, cuts it up, and puts it through a grinder to make mincemeat.  Other ingredients are added and the mixture is stirred in a machine and pumped into long plastic bags to make sausage shapes.  These are then put into large vats of boiling water, cooked and transferred into cold water.  The finished product is packed into metal boxes and loaded into the boot of a waiting Austin car outside the shop.  The car drives off.
