The film begins by the banks of a river where a small crowd has gathered.  There are people watching from a steel bridge.  Swimmers, mostly men but with one women, dive in and swim.  Having left the river, the woman swimmer puts some clothes on, helped by others, as she walks through a field, followed by a man still in his swimming trunks and accompanied by a group of children.  Then several of the swimmers, including the woman, cycle into the entrance to a factory, watched by a crowd, where the race finishes.
