This is a film of a journey through Beverly filmed from the front of a car.
The film begins with a car driving along North Bar Without, then through the Bar and down North Bar Within, passing St Mary’s Church and in to Saturday Market, past the parked cars and pedestrians. It proceeds down Toll Gavel, past a cyclist and shoppers, and turning left at the corner of Stead and Simpson and on to Butcher Row, past the Beverley Teener shop “for the modern Miss”. The car drives into Wednesday Market, facing ‘Harold Neal”, past “Redhead Taxis”, and down Highgate and then around the Minster, following a lorry carrying a caravan. A policeman is attending a traffic accident. The journey continues over the level crossing and along Flemingate, past the Mariners Arms pub, the post office and the family butchers of H Floyd. A “Moors” lorry passes coming the other way and as we reach Beverley Beck and the works of Bakers and Lee Smith Ltd. the film comes to an end.
